Description
Crewel or Hook embroidery, locally known as Zalakdozi, is one of the specialized styles of embroidery practiced by traditional artisans in Kashmir, India. Each of our hand-embroidered tapestries goes through an elaborate process of hand-crafting and takes 10-12 days to complete.
Tiny chain stitches are created using the hook needle (Ara Kunj) and cover the entire area of the background fabric of dusoot cotton. The figures and motifs are worked in striking colors, with the embroidery done in a series of coin-sized concentric circles which impart dynamism and a sense of movement to the design.
Measures 24″ x 24″. Tiered handmade tassels add an additional 3″ to the total length.
Comes ready-to-hang with small loops at the top.
