The Southern Yellow-Billed Hornbill is endemic to the dry savannahs of Southern Africa, found in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Botswana, among other countries. Its large, distinctive beak is a bright yellow, curving downwards as much as a sixth of the bird’s entire length. The mostly grey plumage of the hornbill contrasts starkly with the vibrant color of its beak, making it utterly unmistakable on the wide open plains of Africa.
