Description
The Bateleur is an eagle endemic to Africa, and is the emblem used in the flag of Zimbabwe. The word ‘Bateleur’ is French for ‘street performer,’ an epithet it’s earned for its habit of tilting from side to side when gliding, as if to catch its balance. Its bushy head angles sharply forward, tapering into a narrow red beak like a curved arrowhead, giving it a smooth, almost sculpted appearance.
