Description
They’re like great wings sprouting from the soft green branches of the tree, spread wide to catch the sweltering tropical sun. Banana leaves are soft and delicate, easily splitting apart at the veins running along the spine. Even so, their supple texture and sheer size made them useful as writing surfaces in South Asian countries. The texture and thinness of the leaves even influenced the scripts of the languages recorded on them, for it was the only option before paper existed.
