Description
A great stone plinth shaped like a nine-pointed star supports the main sanctum of the Channakeshava Temple in Somanathapura, India. The multi-tiered, rising structure of the temple is built in the ornate stone-carved style of 13th Century Hoysala architecture. As you circle the temple building thrice in obeisance to the Lord, the intricate stonework comes alive with scenes from ancient Indian epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana, so you relive the same stories as the devotees who came to this temple nearly eight centuries ago.
