The dahlia has one of the most fascinating shapes of any flower, and it’s hardly surprising that it’s the national flower of Mexico. The fractal pattern of the petals, each carefully folded like a work of origami, forms a bloom so perfectly symmetrical that it shouldn’t exist in nature. The shades of the petals ooze outward, like a dye in the center of the flower being absorbed by the petals and spreading to the edges. There’s nothing quite like it in the plant kingdom, a flower that looks like it’s been crafted and placed lovingly on a bush by hand.
