Humans have had a long and rather interesting history with tulips. Once a wildflower growing in the Tien Shan mountains of Central Asia, they became the symbol of the Ottomans in the 15th century. Once it was introduced to Europe, it truly garnered an international demand for this mild, dainty-looking mountain flower. Today, tulips grow in vast tracts of land in the Netherlands, creating an undulating wave of brightly colored rainbow valleys amid the mountains.
