Description
The Hoopoe is a flamboyant little bird found all across Africa, Europe and Asia, and is known for its long, slender beak and a fabulous crest of pink feathers that stand tall over its tiny head, tipped with black. The Hoopoe’s genus, Upupa, imitates the easily distinguished call of the bird. Hoopoes have had a long history with humans, being frequently mentioned in the Torah and Quran, and were even considered sacred in Ancient Egypt.
