Description
The Ornate Hawk-Eagle is a large raptor bird that distinguishes itself from the rest of the eagle family with its highly intricate coloring patterns that earned it its name. Adult hawk-eagles have a jet-black crown on their heads, with a tall crest that protrude upward like a spike. These are a species of powerful predators, choosing to prey on birds larger than itself, as well as small and medium mammals. They’re found mostly in the tropical Americas, in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and El Salvador.
